For edge cases — institutions outside our directory, joint appointments, visiting researchers — our team reviews applications within two business days.

What counts as research?
Academic plans are intended for research that is published, taught, or shared openly — work where the output is knowledge, not a commercial product or service.
- ALLOWED Coursework, dissertations, peer-reviewed publications, open-source releases, internal lab use.
- ALLOWED Pre-print exploration, reproducibility studies, replication of published work.
- NOT ALLOWED Use by a spinout or commercial subsidiary that licenses or sells outputs.
- NOT ALLOWED Industry-sponsored research with restricted publication or proprietary IP terms.
